Terry Strickland, Sr. was born on September 3, 1956 in Waycross, Georgia to William L. Strickland and Helen Perritt Strickland.  Terry was preceded in death by his father William L. Strickland of Waverly, Ga., his mother Helen Perritt Altman of Waycross, Ga. and stepmother Aggie Strickland of Waverly, Ga.  His nephew Robert Dillon Naves of Brunswick, Ga.

Terry was an electrician by trade and owner/operator of Strickland Trucking of Kingsland, Ga.  From the age of 12 years old, Terry started playing the guitar and fell in love with it and was hooked on music from then on, this naturally developed into playing for others.  He played in “Battle of the Bands” in 1971 in Yulee, Fla. and out of the 15 bands in competiton, his band won.  The prize was to play and open up for singer Lynn Anderson (I Never Promised You a Rose Garden) in Jacksonville, Fla.  It was an amazing night for him and the band.  He also loved the outdoors, gardening and fishing.

Terry is survived by his son’s Terry Wayne Strickland, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. and Travis William Strickland of Kingsland, Ga.  Granddaughters, Mary Ann Strickland, Annie Marie Strickland, and Holly Strickland all of Jacksonville, Fla.  Two sisters, Jan Strickland of Waycross, Ga., Tonya (Mike) Holton of White Oak, Ga., Step-brother Mike Daskivich of San Antonio, Tx.  Nieces, Nicole Gentry of Kingsland, Ga. and Jennifer (Derek) Dixon of Waycross, Ga.  Nephew David Naves of Brunswick, Ga.  Great-nephew Tristin Dixon and great-niece Natalie Strickland.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00am, Honey Creek Episcopal Church, Waverly, Ga.  Food will be served after the services in the church social hall.
